I'm looking for one that has really, really clear, big pictures and really well laid out instructions. Not where you have to read the cook's life story and how she made these when Tarquin was 3 and he read the whole thing by himself and said it was nummy, but parents of normal children have to read the recipe out.
DS really likes this book of mine (he is 9 but has SEN) and zero attention span and hates listening to instructions). But it has things like kidney kebabs... It's a tad 1970s!

Anyone? I've done a lot of searching but I'm beginning to think there is a gap in the market.

The cbeebies website might have.

letsgetcooking.org.uk/lets-get-cooking-at-home/recipe-collection/picture-recipes/ You have to download the pdf at the top of each recipe to see the pictures with the instructions.

Fascinating idea though, really giving me something to think about!

The pictures look like they are from a fab 70s kids cookbook called Floury Fingers????

Those aren't too bad but a bit limited. I do think there is a gap in the market.

DS1 has an Usborne first cookbook that he has successfully used to make some nice things! We also have a lovely one called lunch at 10 pomegranate street which has delicious recipes and beautifully illustrated, but not every step is pictured.

drspouse · 03/04/2021 17:17

We have that one but DS doesn't really like it and it doesn't have much that he'd be interested in cooking unfortunately either.

Sorry we have the Usborne one.

Oh my goodness that picture took me straight back to my childhood. I had that book too. I remember making so many things from it. Wow

Love this idea, but I have tried in vain and downloaded but there are no step by step pics by the instructions? Am I being daft?

I found them on a couple of the recipes but not others.

We have a fantastic dorling kindersley cookbook. Am in bed now but will check the title in the morning.

treeeeemendous · 09/04/2021 07:41

The book we have is ISBN 978-1-4053-0588-4 I will see if I can post some pictures.

treeeeemendous · 09/04/2021 07:46

I just picked a random recipe. This is one of the main meals. It also has light meals, breakfasts, baking and desserts. I can attach more pics if you want.

Anything in bold like dice, sauté there is a glossary for the words at the back.
