Home alone!

Home alone this evening, want something treat-y but not too much effort. Not in the mood for a takeaway, ready meal, or baked Camembert (often suggested on the kinds of threads!). Tend towards veggie or just a little meat (i.e. don't really fancy steak but a bit of bacon I a lentil guy would be ok). What shall I have!?

It's no help to you now but if I know I'm going to be home alone I order a ready made sandwich platter from Ocado or Waitrose. One of those plus a multi pack of crisps and a couple of fruit pots can keep me going for a couple of days.

If you have a shop near you that sells them a cheaper way to do it is to buy a few readymade sandwiches, cut them in triangles (essential for a platter, it's just a plate if you have rectangles!) and arrange them with a sprinkling of cress. Add a couple of scones and some cream and you have a solo afternoon tea.

Do you eat fish? That’s always my go to because all though the family will eat it, they don’t share the love. I’d get a fresh tuna steak add a Cajun rub, serve with griddled garlicky green beans, tender-stem broccoli and fresh tomatoes. Quick, easy and delicious.

Carbonara - (with bacon if no pancetta in) an egg, parmesan and garlic (think it's a BBCfood recipe)

Probably too late now but my home alone treat is nachos with homemade salsa and guacamole, nacho cheese sauce and plenty of jalapeños 🐷.

I'm home alone to eat tonight as well. I'm going to have a cheese and vegetable omelette and may be a few oven chips.

If anyone was invested in this, I went for a long run followed by Nigella's crab macaroni cheese which I highly recommend!

Thanks for the update op. I love it when people come back and tell us their end result but it so rarely seems to happen these days!

I hope you enjoyed your delicious sounding meal.

I definitely did! I ate it with a spoon from a bowl in front of Moulin Rouge on the telly, was most civilised Grin
