Anyone tried it?
There's a packet of fish fingers at the bottom of the freezer - bought when I had a very young guest to dinner in case he didn't like adult food.

I’ve also been a bit intrigued by it but never actually used it myself because I already have two very popular meals for using fish fingers: tacos and Tesco’s recipe for fish finger pie. I kind of freestyle the tacos, but there are loads of recipes for fish finger tacos online.

We did it and enjoyed it. Had it in a wrap with a paratha (frozen one not homemade). One to have again.

I've done it twice. The flavours are lovely, but I prefer it with the fish fingers just sliced into it, rather than all mashed up, because mashing made them soggy and I can only eat fish fingers when they're really crispy. It does need some bread or something on the side, if you don't want to be hungry again quickly afterwards.

My family thought it was bizarre. Not to be repeated. And they’re generally quite adventurous.

Georgyporky · 28/03/2021 17:02

Thanks for the replies, I think I'll try it.

I really like it! It’s in my quick store cupboard dinner repertoire. It’s best if you’ve got lots of fresh coriander and lime, and yes I think you really need either a nan, or some rice (microwave is fine) to bulk it out a bit. We’ve had it a couple of times.

VerityWibbleWobble · 28/03/2021 17:29

We've made it a few times now and it's one that will regularly be on our meal plan.

For anyone who has made this, Is the English mustard very strong? I am a bit if a wuss when it comes to mustard.

Thank you

RovenderKitt · 06/10/2021 18:59

I was only thinking of this about an hour ago - tried it once, I quite enjoyed it and was just thinking of having it again. I too sliced rather than mashed the fish fingers

crispsinasandwich · 06/10/2021 19:03

Thank you

And the mustard?

IamJuliaJohnson · 06/10/2021 19:06

When I made it, I went quite easy on the mustard but actually it can take a lot. I ended up adding more at the table.

crispsinasandwich · 06/10/2021 19:09

Thank you - just untying the fishfingers in

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 06/10/2021 19:09

this is our new family favourite. So nice, and both the DC enjoy it.
we make lots more of the pickled red onions as I love them. We have it with a big pile of chapattis. Agree that you can't add too much mustard.

IamJuliaJohnson · 06/10/2021 19:17

Agree with the chapattis suggestion too - it needs some carbs with it.

crispsinasandwich · 06/10/2021 21:10

It was lovely but I may have added too much ginger. Will also add more spinach next time - but definitely a success.

Thank you ladies
