Best coffee beans ever?

So am about to come into possession of a bean to cup machine but, having only ever had a stove top moka pot or cafetiere before, I need advice on where to get decent beans.
Supermarket or subscription? Boutique coffee supplier or some random wholesaler?

Come on fellow addicts - share your sources...

Northern Tea Merchants. Been getting coffee and tea from them for years. They are doing free shipping for over £40 and if you want to treat yourself to Jamaican Blue Mountain it's £24 for 125g... :-O

I love Monsooned Malabar beans because they are low acidity and if I drink standard supermarket coffee I tend to find myself doubled up in a corner saying rude things. NTM sell dark and medium roast, and I buy one of each and mix them to get my perfect coffee.

Having said that, if I could get a TARDIS and go back to Bristol in the '80s I could get hold of Carwardine's Nicaraguan coffee again and that was something wonderful. Sadly now lost in the mists of time...

www.monmouthcoffee.co.uk/ is usually pretty reliable. If you want decaf their Swiss water processed beans are good.

The other alternative, especially for espresso, is to find a local Italian deli. They will usually sell 1kg bags of beans, often without any branding or obvious origin on the bags, and it’s usually good value.

If you’ve bought a bean to cup, don’t put too many beans in the hopper. Keep your beans in the bag you bought them in, put a sealing clip on the top, and put the bag in a tightly sealing tin and store in a cupboard. Ignore anyone who tells you to keep them in the fridge.

Another vote for Monmouth Coffee Co - haven’t had anything I didn’t enjoy yet.

Jumping on this thread because I know people use old threads for research. Just found a new independent Speciality Coffee Roasters Seven District Coffee.

They roast in lincoln and have a lovely story about their local blend called the lincoln imp (I know I am a sucker for a goof fable Smile which is my favourite (it has a hint of dark chocolate and cherry which reminds me of wine).

They also have a flexible subscription from £9.50 (you get a book with it from a local charity)
