Do you get a large box Mila - mines due any minute and I still have last weeks Kale in bottom of fridge. I've just shoved the squash from last week in th eoven so the delivery man won't see them when he brings my box in.

Medium, lol I just did the same

I do like a bit of kale but I'm clean out of ideas, after last nights raddichio wraps debacle don't feel I can present kale stir fry again.

My Riverford box has just arrived too!! We're getting much better with green stuff these days:

Usually throw a few handfuls of either chard, or shredded kale into any tomato-based sauce - eg. sauce for pasta, meatballs, chilli etc.

Stir fries (as you're doing), but not too much that it's overpowering!

Last week did very yummy chard, potato and cheese puree for DD2 - may try to adapt into a layered gratin type affair for us all.

Mixed greens with garlic as side dish - put chard stalks and shredded kale in earlier than the chard leaves.

My relationship with kale was revolutionised when I realised it was a leafy cabbage rather than a spinach-type leaf like chard. It's much better shredded small and cooked for longer.

If all else fails, it's great compost!!

Our pigs love the kale too expensive pig food but there are some weeks when we can't keep up.

Here's a link to an allotment society's recipe page for a couple of chard recipes.
Also Sarah Raven has a scrummy recipe for chard & feta filo parcels (can't find it online will have to dig it out if you're interested.}

And what about Nigella's clementine cake for your oranges?

MegaLegs · 06/11/2007 13:38

Oh sorry cod - I see you were actually being helpful - I thought you were bashing us veg box types.

Thanks for that cod and bramful exactly what I was looking for.

Ahhh leafy cabbage-could pretty much put it with anything then. Liking your tom sauce and the soup idea on the other thread too.

Well off to do some chard chopping.

Many thanks
