What beans shall I use in this?

We are having a ‘use up’ week/fortnight. The freezer is being slowly emptied and I am working my way through tins at the back of the larder cupboard

I’m making this recipe tonight for the first time; what beans shall I use? I need 2 tins.
The choice from the back of the cupboard is

Butter
Kidney
Black eyed
Berlotti

I can’t make a simple decision this afternoon for some reason so help me please.

I would use a combination of tins, probably black eyed and berlotti

Butter and borlotti or all of them and freeze

I was also going to say use them all and freeze half for another time.

Now what to do?
I can’t make double as I only have one small cabbage and I’m using the last fennel bulb.

I’ve got 3 tins of butter beans so one of those tins is definitely going in.
What for the second tin?

Borlotti beans for the second tin. Nice and creamy.

I would say not butter beans as I don't think their flavour would work so well with the salsa verde.

Any combination of the other 3 would be fine but I would probably save the kidney beans, if I was trying to use things up, as I use them more often. So I would pick the 2 of those 3 types you use least!

Oh... my suggestion to avoid the butter beans isn't very helpful if you want to use them up

There are lots of great recipes that use just butter beans though...

I really like butter beans with salsa verde. I’ve done a similar recipe with them before.

Decision made.
Kidney beans will get used up for sure in a chilli
Black eyed beans have a very long best before date.

Just frying the onion and the fennel is giving off a lovely aroma..

I would use the butter beans in fasolia gigantes, personally. However many tins are available, they’d all go in. Delicious hot, warm, cold, reheated the next day...

Kidney and black-eyed.

Save the Butter to make mash - they are lovely in a butterbean and potato mash.

Borlotti are good in salads - which kidney are too tough for.

Woman after my own heart. I have lots of butter beans and didn't know what to do with them. I would eat beans and pulses every day by my family start to complain if I do them more than a couple of times a week!

Why have I never made salsa verse before?

Salsa verde goes with everything!!

That version looks good but it's quite simplified. This version is probably one I'd use (if I had the time & energy!) Both should taste good though.
