Help! Toad in the hole

Hi!

I have a sudden craving to make toad in the hole for our tea. I have sausages, I have all the stuff to make the Yorkshire pudding I have one question... are you meant to cook the sausages first? Or do you sit them in the batter raw we don't have a grill (it broke and I'm saving up for a new oven) so if I need to cook them first I'd have to bake them as I hate the way fried sausages make the house smell!

May I suggest removing the sausages from their skin, making balls, bake them for 10 mins then add the batter.

The fat from the sausages help the batter to rise and I just like balls.

I am going to have to try this.

I cook for 20
Minutes first turn half way through. Then add the batter afterwards
