Safe, teflon-free, cookware recommendations please

I'm looking to replace all my day to day plans and having read a lot about the dangers of teflon type coatings I'm looking for safer cookware this time round.

I already have a large le cruset casserole that I'm keeping but want to replace my current mish-mash of pans and oven trays with some good quality items that wont poison us.

Your recommendations please!

Can't do better than really good quality stainless steel cookware. In the US I'd buy All Clad copper core trim ply, but I think it is prohibitively expensive here. Similar brands would be Le Creuset's try-ply stainless steel, Mauviel, Bourgeat, SKK, Tramonita. It won't be cheap but will last a lifetime.

Good websites to check out for deals are Nisbet, Divertimenti, and John Lewis.

tri ply, not trim ply (I hate predictive text!)

Gosh, if you think All-Clad cookware is expensive, it is nothing compared to Mauviel prices. Mauviel is the sort of stuff you aspire to, like being Mortgage-Free or holidaying in the Seychelles. I always promise myself that, one day, I will buy a Mauviel pan. In the meantime, we have a very good set of Stainless Steel Kuhn Rikon saucepans with encapsulated tri-ply bases. The best we have ever had......so far!

As for Bakeware, try Silverwood. It will never rust and will last for ever (provided you look after it and don't put it in the dishwasher).

I’d put All Clad and Mauviel at the same level. Yes, the copper Mauviel is more expensive, but the stainless steel is in the same price bracket as the good All Clad. I do agree that the copper Mauviel is prohibitively expensive and too much faff in upkeep, although it does look great. In my dreams where I have invisible house elves, I’d have a gleaming set of copper Mauviel on neat display. Ah well...

Thanks. I probably should have added that I'm wedded to my dishwasher and not rolling in cash! But I will definitely check out those recommendations.

I have just brought a Mauviel sauté pan home from France… birthday present from an indulgent father. Hideously expensive, will never be able to buy another, but my goodness it’s a dream to cook with!
