What are blondies? Have you made them/tried them?

So I’ve made and consumed brownies

Blondies are new to me but I’m intrigued

I’ve never seen them for sale but thinking of making them

People seem to rave about them online - are they really worth it?

White chocolate brownies

Yes I’ve made them

No they aren’t better than real chocolate brownies. As white chocolate can’t really claim the title of chocolate.

SugarMiceInTheRain · 16/02/2021 23:25

I make them and they're great. I add orange zest and dried cranberries and blueberries to my blondies.
But a proper brownie is hard to beat and I generally prefer milk or dark chocolate to white.

Onedropbeat · 16/02/2021 23:33

I assumed they weren’t chocolate flavour at all, so they are just white chocolate version?

I love them with raspberries. I’d almost say I prefer them to Brownies.

ButtonMoonPie · 16/02/2021 23:36

They're ok but not as good as the real thing!

Turnedouttoes · 16/02/2021 23:36

I made the mini egg ones from Jane’s Patisserie recently and they are so so good!

drspouse · 16/02/2021 23:36

They don't have chocolate in them, but they can be known as butterscotch brownies.
A white chocolate brownie is just that.
I want some now, even though I had a chocolate brownie!

iklboo · 16/02/2021 23:36

We didn't use white chocolate at all. We used dulce de leche with this recipe.

BLONDIES

Onedropbeat · 16/02/2021 23:37

Ooooh I love dulce de leche

Ahem. My name is iklboo and I can't stand brownies

StealthPolarBear · 16/02/2021 23:48

Have you tried the coops brookies? Cross between a brownie and a cookie. Yum.

Ijustknowitstimetogo · 17/02/2021 00:30

They have a soft vanilla cookie dough flavour to them.

rainbowunicorn · 18/02/2021 22:31

Not sure where people are getting the idea that blondies are just white chocolate brownies? They can have white chocolate in them but most recipes don't feature it as a main ingredient.

The flavour comes from brown sugar and they should taste of vanilla. You can add anything in to them including white chocolate, nuts, dried fruit, just as you can with brownies.

Sojo88 · 18/02/2021 22:32

I made raspberry and white chocolate blondies recently - they were amazing!

canihaveacoffeeplease · 19/02/2021 10:21

Bloodies are divine! Amazing with cherries through them too. We used to have a coffee shop and restaurant and made both blondies and brownies daily. We did a staff poll, and weirdly almost everyone who preferrred dark chocolate liked the blondies better and vice versa...and we used really decent high cocoa solids chocolate and raw cacao for the brownies so it wasn't down to poor quality dark chocolate!

Blondies are not white chocolate. I think of them as chocolate chip cookie dough spread in a pan rather than baked individually lazy. There may be more glamorous and sophisticated recipes now that they have become a thing.

drspouse · 24/02/2021 05:14

They are actually a much softer dough than cookies, with more eggs and sugar, less flour.

Highfalutinlootin · 24/02/2021 05:30

They are like chocolate chip cookies with the shape and texture of a brownie. Dominant flavors brown sugar and vanilla. I don't particularly care for them. Would always rather have a cookie or a brownie.

drspouse · 24/02/2021 08:30

Ah no it is a completely different mix. I'm not surprised you don't like them if that's what you've had!
