Flavouring popcorn

We have a popcorn maker which is great fun and very handy with all the movie nights we are having but I cannot get the flavouring right, the salt just falls off to the bottom of the bowl. Icing sugar seems to work for the sweet kind but we prefer salty or sweet & salty.

I have seen methods for tossing in salted melted butter but I don't think that would go down well with us so looking for tips please

I use very finely ground salt and a couple of squirts of 1-cal oil spray which helps the salt to stick to the grains.

I sometimes use a mix of salt with other spices like paprika to ring the changes a bit.
