How do you cook the onions and peppers when cooking tandoori chicken?

The recipe said that the marinated chicken is to be put on a grill tray above a baking paper lined tray in the oven.

Can I add sliced onions and peppers to the bottom of the tray uncooked with a little water and let them cook with the chicken legs and breasts for 45 minutes?

Sounds messy to me!

I'd put it all in together so it's like a tray bake. I would never roast something in the oven that drips down, I couldn't be faffed with the mess. Place your marinated chicken in the tray and add the onions and peppers in around it.

I like your idea and that is what I’ve done. I’ve added the marinated chicken on top of a bed of peppers and onions.

I need to butter baste the chicken every 15 mins so it should be ok - I hope

It was really, really nice. I did a mix of legs and breast with this recipe www.jocooks.com/recipes/baked-tandoori-chicken/
