Fruit and veg boxes

Does anyone get a fruit and veg box? Can you recommend any companies/boxes and does it work out a lot more expensive than buying from a supermarket? I'm in Merseyside if that makes any difference.

I do but it is a local one so not v helpful but it is cheaper and better quality than a supermarket for the staples (onions, potatoes, apples, carrots, salad stuff etc) but more expensive for things like berries and grapes but one of the benefits is no or next to no packaging. We just return the crate each week.

We get ours every other week and just top up from supermarket or grocers

Also a local one for us. It come straight from the market in my nearest town. It costs a similar amount to buying from Sainsbury’s I think.
However, the money is going into a local family run business. It has expanded during the pandemic and is now employing an extra 4 people 6 days a week. New vans and smart polo shirts have been bought.
They’re doing a great job.

@Bruffin recommended Oddbox recently so I had a look and signed up. We've had three boxes so far. Excellent quality, and the price is good for the quality (ie it's not cheap but I feel it's good value for money, and I'm paying for delivery too, of course). They buy up surplus fruit and veg from growers so you get whatever they've managed to get hold of that week/fortnight, very seasonal, very fresh. They're extremely flexible about allowing changes of delivery frequency too - you just need to remember to do it, which I've realised while typing this I haven't considered for next week. Ah well. Blush. We're getting a box every fortnight at the moment, which is working out OK. You can specify a few things you would never want/can't eat for medical reasons. Last box we got a bag of kumquats, which were delicious.

London only, as far as I know, but maybe there's something similar in your area, OP?
