am not inspired at all

beraring in mind that one set of peoplea are alweays late ! so was thinking either all cold food or stuff in sauce to keep it from spoiling

stuff that is no effort on the day so i can just put on table and enjoy my guests rather than faffing

no special dietary req

Seeing as it's nearly Nov 5th why not a bonfire type lunch. Jacket pots, hotdogs etc. Potatoes and sausages can stay in the oven. Serve with salad which can stay in the fridge until you're ready. Relatively hassle free!

A casseroley-type-thingy? That's what I'm doing for our annual let's-see-who-can-set-fire-to-the-shed-first party on Saturday. With jacket potatoes. And Delia's chocolate bread and butter pudding.

Nigellas ham in coke and baked spuds. I find children go mad for ham. But spottyshoes bonfire lunch sounds delish as well (is it lunch time yet?!)

spag bol? Make the sauce already beforehand, the pasta will only take five mins serve with ciabatta or garlic bread and salad.

Have some soup, flans, sarnies & a cake for dessert.

How about Chinese Noodles (not sure where we got name from as it is nothing like Chinese food at all! ).

All you do is a bolognese sauce with mince, peppers, onions and mushrooms (use quite a lot of sauce), boil some pasta (twisty ones), mix all together, sprinkle cheese on top and bung in oven for 20 min when guests arrive, serve with garlic bread and salad. Kids (and adults) love it!
