Week one of a bread maker and love it!!!

Any healthy recipe ideas.... or is that an iconic question?

Anything that contains whole grains and/or seeds. Did your machine come with a recipe book? Which machine is it?

I make my own bread and when using wholemeal wheat or spelt flour, I add one or two tablespoons of extra-virgin olive oil to give it a bit more elasticity compared to white.
Usually in this ration
500 gr flour
250 ml lukewarm water
1- 2 tbl oil
1/2 teaspoon salt
20 gr fresh yeast (I can't stand powdered yeast)

If using spelt, it needs a bit more water.

I do mine by hand, don't even use a mixer , so don't know about machine. The longer I knead, the softer it will be, but pure whole spelt won't be soft, but that's why I like it .

I love my bread maker and tend to make 50/50 white/wholemeal and I always use Extra Virgin Olive Oil (I buy it in bulk from Elanthy, such good value) instead of butter. I think it keeps the bread fresher for longer. although today I made my first sourdough following The Boy who Bakes - couldn't believe it actually worked!

Ah , jumping on this thread.

I have just ordered a breadmaker (Panasonic)

DD and DH like the 50/50 bread
I don't eat much bread but I like a proper white loaf , salty and yeasty not the plastic white sliced loaf type
DS loves homemade pizza so I can (hopefuly) do a batch of pizza dough to oven cook .

I have the Panasonic. I find it very difficult to eat supermarket bread now because it just tastes of preservatives. If you set the timer you can wake up to a wonderful smell of freshly cooked bread! The pizza dough setting is brilliant too.

I've had mixed success , I think due to the flour .

Made white bread, cinnamon buns and a 50:50 all fantastic ( using Sainsbury own brand white or white:wholemeal)

Pizza dough made with Allinsons , rose a bit but not as I hoped , even 2nd proving was minimal.
Then a white loaf in the breadmaker ..it was like a brick Shock
Went back to Sainsbury flour , no problems .

I know flours can vary . the date was fine , yeast fine . Just got a dud .
