The beef needs eating so I must use it for tonight's dinner.

Any ideas please? I'm failing miserably to come up with anything.

Not shepherd pie as we had that on Thursday.

In the cupboard I have lentils, beans, tomatoes, roasted peppers, coconut milk, pasta, rice, chick peas, wraps plus other random items.
In the fridge I have cheese, creme fraiche, peppers, leeks, courgettes, broccoli, spinach, kale, chipotle paste, pesto plus other random items.
In the freezer I have a variety of veg, plus dog food Smile

Not shepherd pie as we had that on Thursday.

I know that I should be able to pull this out of the hat really easily but, today, I can't Blush

TIA.

TIA

Cottage pie?

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 23/01/2021 15:56

Beef stew? Chuck in red wine, stock, veg etc and simmer. I would slow cook that but it's a bit late now for dinner tonight.

Goulash?

Happytodayhappytomorrow · 23/01/2021 16:01

Thanks for posts.
The goulash recipe on BBG Good Food (my go to) has 75 ml dry white wine in it but we don't have any white wine in. Will it matter if I leave it out?

Beef in red wine sauce fry up with the leeks and chuck on now in a gravy sauce. At the end throw in broc and spinach with a swirl of creme Fraiche. Serve with bread or veg/rice. Ooh yeah going to have that myself this week.

No red wine either! Well, some red wine but DH says there’s no way I’m to cook with it Grin

MrsMoastyToasty · 23/01/2021 16:40

Stew and dumplings.

TheSpottedZebra · 23/01/2021 16:40

Stroganoff

Ukholidaysaregreat · 23/01/2021 16:40

Stew! Add Worcestershire sauce or similar if you don't have alcohol.

TheSpottedZebra · 23/01/2021 16:41

Just leave the wine out of the goulash, maybe add in some stock, or water. It'll be fine.

sadpapercourtesan · 23/01/2021 16:42

I made beef stifado last week, it was bloody delicious, would you enjoy that?

withaheyandahoandaheyheyho · 23/01/2021 16:44

You can substitute a small amount of vinegar for wine, in a pinch

Labobo · 23/01/2021 16:44

Hairy bikers beef curry? It is so delicious. Way more than it sounds.

GoryGilmore · 23/01/2021 16:50

Jamie Oliver’s beef and ale stew if you have any ale in! It’s really delicious.

Thank you all so much for posting.
I’ve made the goulash without the wine and added some water.
It’s looking good so far.
And I have some other suggestions to store for another day. Thanks again everyone.
