Can anyone point me to a good recipe, I don't just want a sugary sauce but something with some flavour and punch.

Don't know of a recipe, but I made a pineapple sauce last week, which was basically brown sugar and cornflour mixed together (dry) then put into a saucepan and add pineapple juice. Then you boil and simmer until it's nice and gloopy. I added a bit of apple cider vinegar and some salt and it tasted sweet, but also savoury.

Not sure what's in sweet and sour sauce, but I'm sure you could make it this way.

This is the recipe I use. Instead of the pineapple juice from a tin I use tropicana pineapple juice. I also add a little grated ginger for a bit of heat. www.daringgourmet.com/best-sweet-and-sour-sauce/#wprm-recipe-container-41072

I've used this before without the chili. It tastes a lot like our local Chinese!!!

Donning my hard hat here, but when I followed SlimmingWorld I used to make a banging sweet n sour using a can of zero sugar Fanta orange, tinned tomatoes, Passata, onions, peppers, chilli flakes and a bit of stock.

It sounds Envy but once you reduce it down in a pan with chicken it's actually really nice! And low fat/calorie too which is a bonus

@Newnamemyname This sounds interesting. I tried the SW mushy pea curry with much skeptism, but was converted. Do you have a recipie with quantities you dont mind sharing?

I second qwerty222's suggestion- the Hairy Biker sweet and sour is delicious.
