Mincemeat in cupboard - suggestions please

Searching through cupboards and found a jar of mincemeat I didn't use from last year.

BBE date is November this year...

Should I chance it and use it for mince pies next Christmas?

Alternatively what are other things I could make apart from mince pies in the meantime?

Bath buns/cinnamon buns but with mincemeat in are delicious.
As long as the jar is unopened, it will last indefinitely.

Not a recipe but it's very nice spooned on Greek yogurt

Google Fanny Craddock mincemeat omelette and it will be christmas before you can face it eating anyway!

and Getabloominmoveon - good shout about the brandy etc - I've got some cherry brandy I bought for a Christmas cake which might as well find a good home.

On the subject of long lasting preserves, my husband was telling me a couple of days ago about something he'd seen where a researcher asked people to bring the oldest things from their pantry, and they'd test to see which were still edible.
One lady (now elderly) brought a jar of marmalade she had made 60 years earlier...it was still edible and safe to eat!
Preserving really is a good way to keep things

I second that apple pie with half mincemeat is amazing! Shortcrust pastry, and make like an apple pie.

Paul Hollywood does a lovely mincemeat twist crown. Think it's on the bbc site.
