Your favourite Dark Chocolate?

Over lockdown I've developed a taste for Dark Chocolate, hated the stuff before but somehow it's grown on me now. What's your favourite one? Which ones do you recommend? The only one I've had so far is the Lindt 70% one.

seed & bean is very good but not available in most supermarkets

tony's chocolony is good too

campion · 12/01/2021 17:33

M&S do a 72% Peruvian dark chocolate and Sainsburys do something similar. Green and Black's is also good.
Don't go much above 72% unless you like it very bitter.
The Lindt one is probably our favourite.

We have years of experience on this one OP. Tried and testedGrin

OK, I feel like a pro on this one: I have tried them all and to me the best is Aldi! I think it is the one that is 75% dark chocolate and it is also one of the cheapest. I truly love it...dark chocolate is an adult acquired taste and a little goes a long way....enjoy!

Ocado stocks it.

Favourite round here is Bourneville! Not ultra dark, so not for the purists maybe, but it's very pleasant

Aldi 85%. I don't like lindt 85% it's way too fruity for me. I also eat a lot of dark choc and so also too pricy.

For high days and holidays I get chococo 80% buttons.

actiongirl1978 · 12/01/2021 20:19

A little does not go a long way for me BTW I eat about 3 bars of 85% a day Blush

17thEarlOfOxford · 12/01/2021 20:19

Willie's Cacao Chef's Drops. They're meant for baking I think, but are basically a tub of delicious dark chocolate buttons. Gorgeous!

LightOfAThousandStars · 12/01/2021 21:35

Thank you for all the lovely suggestions, they sound delicious!! I don't have an Aldi near me only Tesco but for the meantime I've ordered the Tony Chocolonely and Willie's Cacao Drops from Amazon. Will see if I can find some of the other ones online or the next time I am in Tesco Grin.

Montezuma's absolute black 100%
Lidl 95%
Lidl/Aldi 85%
Not a fan of Lindt

LightOfAThousandStars · 12/01/2021 21:57

Thanks, is the Montezuma 100% one bitter @kowari ?

Godiva 90%. I regularly bought the Lindt one, didn't have any in Asda, so I saw the Godiva on offer and bought that. Game changer, will only buy Godiva now. For a 90% bar, it's creamy and not bitter at all.

kowari · 13/01/2021 06:24

It doesn't taste bitter to me, but then I love unsweetened black coffee and grapefruit (cut up and eaten like an orange), mustard greens, so I may not be a good person to ask.

Aerielview · 13/01/2021 06:32

Green and Black's 70% is lovely

inquietant · 13/01/2021 06:34

I like Divine, or M&S do a good range of fair trade chocolate too.

Bournville doesn't count IMO!

redfernsydney · 13/01/2021 06:40

The 100% montezuma is way to bitter for me..I normally like an 85%. green and blacks is my favourite. ,They used to do one with cherries but haven't seen it for ages.,it was delicious

lilyfire · 13/01/2021 06:40

I really like Montezuma 100% too. Especially the orange one with cocoa nibs. I think you just have to wean yourself onto it and get used to the flavour - but it means I now find 75% tastes too sugary.

PalacePaper · 13/01/2021 06:45

My favourite is green & blacks 85%, delicious. Aldi also do some lovely ones, including one with ginger and I think mandarin... this is making me want chocolate for breakfast!

MysweetAudrina · 13/01/2021 06:59

I love green and black salted caramel velvet edition 70% and hotel chocolat, any of their 70% and over flavours.

Yes, I can only eat a bit of anything under 85% now, it's so sweet.

I second this - I had to double check the nutritional values as I couldn't believe it was 90% being so creamy. It's lovely! Usually on offer if you shop through ocado as well
LightOfAThousandStars · 13/01/2021 11:58

Thank you, will see if I can get a hold of the Godiva one to try out as well, sounds very creamy and yummy!
