Do you serve fruit/veg with every meal?

No, but offer several over the course of the day.

Yes. Almost toddler here (1). Usually offer fruit with breakfast, fruit and sometimes veg with lunch, and veg with dinner.

But he still has milk rather than snacks between meals.

Yes but better with fruit than veg. He will have fruit with breakfast (usually 2 or 3 sorts) veg if lunch is a hot lunch (so in stew etc) plus fruit for after, and veg offered with dinner plus fruit for after. Ds usually has about 7 a day on average.

Definitely for lunch and tea. Not always for breakfast

Changechangychange · 12/01/2021 12:59

Depends - fruit is for snacks, and yes he does get at least two servings a day (often massive servings, he will often eat an entire punnet of berries, melon etc).

Breakfast is cereal - we very occasionally have pancakes and berries on a Sunday. But usually no, no fruit or veg.

Veg is in most lunches and teas, but he does sometimes have jacket potato beans and cheese, or a cheese sandwich. Loves peas and will eat them with pretty much any meal, so that is our go-to vegetable.

Yes- fruit with breakfast (all the children have a bowl of fruit to start, ages 2-13), usually a veg with lunch and some fruit for pudding, often fruit for an afternoon snack, a veg with dinner. Sometimes more fruit, sometimes 2 veg with meals, and I cook veg into everything as well, eg grated in bolognese sauce etc. Could just be chance but they are such robust kids, v rarely ill!

SillyOldMummy · 12/01/2021 13:41

No, not every meal. For example if we have boiled egg for lunch, or sardines on toast, or macaroni cheese. But then I'd offer fruit or veg snack that day, and extra veg at dinner.

2021ComeAtMe · 12/01/2021 13:45

I try, but she tends to refuse almost everything I offer Grin I'm lucky to get a bit of sweetcorn and few bites of banana into her these days!

No. Fruit is standard at lunch and often after dinner. I don't usually offer fruit at breakfast as they're tucking into weetabix with yoghurt and sometimes have a very small smoothie. Veg at lunch only if it's a cooked lunch/left overs etc. Although DS often has carrots and humous. Veg with dinner always.
