Seafood delivery?

Hi

I have a locked down birthday coming up and would love to spoil DH and I with a shellfish-seafood dinner at home. I'm thinking lobster, crab, prawns etc etc.

Does anyone recommend any particular companies that deliver, or am I best to see what I could get at Waitrose maybe?

Thanks Smile

Whereabouts do you live?

I'm in Manchester, a long way away from any decent fish/seafood supplier and unfortunately I've never found the economics to stack up for a delivery from a specialist fishmonger. I tend to go to a fish wholesaler when I'm in a town 40 miles away visiting MIL, or I buy frozen stuff in my local Portuguese minimarket.

I'm towards Bristol.

@Otherpeoplesteens - look up dock to door on Facebook. May be local enough to you?

SnowWouldHelp · 07/01/2021 22:55

These guys are more expensive than our local fismonger but have been reliably good esp oysters www.fishforthought.co.uk

Otherpeoplesteens · 07/01/2021 22:56

Sorry, never been to that part of the world so can't help. Crab might be a bit of a stretch, but lobster and decent prawns are still available from Christmas in the freezers at the likes of Lidl and Aldi.

emptyplinth · 07/01/2021 22:58

I haven't used it myself but I've heard bhfish.co.uk is good.
Based in Dorset, not sure if that is close enough?

Otherpeoplesteens · 07/01/2021 23:01

@glasshalfsomething Thanks for the link, but those prices are beyonf ridiculous. £9 for a kilo of sardines? They're £3.95 from A&O Seafood in Burnley.

Also remembered I randomly got a free delivery offer from this place today and the January box looks ideal for a birthday (but I've never used them) www.theoysterman.co.uk

Have a look at the Rick Stein boxes

FelicityBeedle · 08/01/2021 01:58

I’ve heard very good things about the oyster shed

The Cornish Fish Monger.

laughoutquiet · 08/01/2021 18:54

Thanks for all of these. I'll start surfing now.

Have you checked out your local fishmongers?

laughoutquiet · 08/01/2021 20:56

@LarsErickssong

Have you checked out your local fishmongers?

Grin if I were able to get to (or even had tbh!) a local fishmonger, do you think I'd be posting for delivery ideas?

OP posts:
LarsErickssong · 08/01/2021 21:51

Grin I was just checking as my two local fishmongers are both doing collections and deliveries whilst their shops are closed but neither are advertising it anywhere, I only know as I saw someone talking about it on fb.

laughoutquiet · 08/01/2021 22:53

Thank you though @LarsErickssong Hmm
