Cheese
2 people bought us cheese hampers for Christmas but DD and DS dont like the soft cheeses and DH is cutting down on dairy. I dont mind a bit or Brie but not to that extent so I may have to chuck it

IHaveBrilloHair · 07/01/2021 11:13

Nooooooo, you can't do that, its cheese.

Hoppinggreen · 07/01/2021 11:32

I know but it’s just so much cheese that nobody really likes
There was some strong cheddar and other ones in there we ate but I’ve got 2 large Brie, 3 Camembert and 3 very dubious fruit flavoured cheeses nobody will touch

Ostryga · 07/01/2021 11:40

Those microwaveable lentil & chickpea things. I keep buying them thinking ooh that’ll make a quick, healthy lunch, and then never eating them. I could probably get snowed in for a few weeks and survive quite happily off of them.

TheGonnagle · 07/01/2021 11:42

Cheese. But that’s good because cheese.

Imissmoominmama · 07/01/2021 11:45

Cheese!!

Ninkanink · 07/01/2021 11:47

About 30 tins of tomatoes

A year’s worth of various types of pasta

10kg short grain rice

6kg basmati rice

15kg bread flour

A huge bag of gochugaru (Korean chilli powder) & a big container of gochuchang (Korean chilli paste)

About 200 bottles of beer

ememem84 · 07/01/2021 11:47

rice, Pasta and porridge.

and baked beans.

MrsMiaWallis · 07/01/2021 11:49

Ground cinnamon for some god forsaken reason

Paloooza · 07/01/2021 15:59

Christmas cake and loads of cheese

Wildernesstips · 08/01/2021 06:40

@Hoppinggreen you could try giving the cheese away on the Olio app rather than chucking it.

Hoppinggreen · 08/01/2021 08:09

just had a look at the Olio app.
Nothing on it around here unfortunately

bearlyactive · 08/01/2021 08:11

Caster sugar - but I do a lot of baking so it will get used. Also chocolate, but I'm a pig that WILL get used too Grin

Ninkanink · 08/01/2021 08:11

If your children like macaroni cheese or any other cheesy pasta dishes you can just chuck all that cheese in there and it’ll be extra tasty.

bearlyactive · 08/01/2021 08:12

Can I have it?!?! Grin
Ninkanink · 08/01/2021 08:13

Oh don’t put the fruit flavoured ones into your pasta dishes! 😄

CouchPommeFrite · 08/01/2021 08:18

24 tins of plum tomatoes but then I do shop at Costco so a tray is 12, Dh didn't notice I already had a tray in the pantry and bought another!

We use them in spag bol, chilli, med veg mix we have with salmon, in curries so there is no danger we will still have them sitting there forever.

Also tinned tuna, again Costco, pesto as it was on offer, green thai curry paste as it is from a shop I only visit for the paste.

FreakinFrankNFurter · 08/01/2021 08:25

75-85% dark chocolate. I am slightly obsessed with the stuff and currently have about 15 blocks. Blush

AlwaysLatte · 08/01/2021 08:34

Kale! Loads of it growing in the garden and there are only so many recipes for it/times you want it.

Hoppinggreen · 08/01/2021 08:34

Ninkanink no they don’t eat anything like that unfortunately.
Well DS might but if I put Brie in I think he wouldn’t.
I’m not considering throwing it away lightly, I don’t generally waste food but if it’s still sitting there by next week it will have to go. Normally I would give st least some of it to my Mum but obviously I can’t do that at the moment

AlwaysLatte · 08/01/2021 08:36

Also I love different types of lentils and rice so have loads of large Kilner jars full of red lentils, green lentils, toor dal, mung dal, yellow split peas, plus basmati rice, white rice, arborio rice & brown rice.

LynetteScavo · 08/01/2021 08:39

Frozen mini Indian and vegan party food. DH got a bit over excited on New Year's Eve when he went to Iceland. I'm not sure who he thought he might be catering for.

HelebethH · 08/01/2021 08:41

Tin tomatoes. Did my monthly online shop and ordered 6 tins - or so I thought. Turns out I ordered 6 multipacks. I now have 36 tins! Oops

AuntieMarys · 08/01/2021 08:45

Cheese. About 8 varieties. We are having a cheese and charcuterie night tonight to try and eat most of it!

Lyricallie · 08/01/2021 08:46

Tomato and mascarpone sauce for some reason. I kept buying it thinking we didn't have any. At least we will never starve as we always have pasta.
