What meal would you make yourself with a budget of £15

Just a lighthearted post, my family are getting a takeaway on Saturday night. I don’t want takeaway, So I’m going to go to the shops and buying dinner just for me.
it feels like a real treat, I think because I feel like I can get something luxurious for that price for a meal for one, but probably still cheaper than DHs takeaway - so it feels like a bargain as well!

What would you buy with £15 for yourself?

The ready packed mussels is another option, again excellent with rye sourdough

Steak and king prawns with wine and a nice dessert.

I think at the Moment I'd go Japanese route.

I'm also veggie so that's a lot of money for one meal!

Miso noodle soup
Edamame Beans
Gyoza with dipping sauce

Veggie sushi

Veg & tofu tempura in katsu sauce with noodles & Japanese pickles

Selection of Mochi for dessert

Washed down with ice cold Japanese lager preferably Kirin

A dozen oysters, with chocolate mousse for pudding.

I am a woman of very simple tastes.

Baked camembert. A lot of good french bread. A decent bottle of crisp white wine.

I'd have that over any takeaway, any (every) day of the week.

Lamb chops, Potato Dauphinoise & Green Beans. Chocolate mouse for dessert.

I don't really drink so a lovely fruit juice is sufficient.

@Ninkanink Grin

So I had steak and king prawns a few nights ago, but I agree with all the pp who suggested that, that would be my go to normally!

I have decided I’m going to make scallops or mussels in a white wine sauce and some lovely fresh bread tomorrow for me and DH too, that was my next choice tonight but when I got to the shops I realised I was in desperate need of a vegetable really, lest I develop gout

So instead I got some lamb chops and dauphinois (and some veg to roast)
I never cook lamb chops for us all as they don’t seem to go very far and the price is a bit much for a full family I always think!

And then, I know the seasons are all off, but inspired by @Mintjulia I got some strawberries, clotted cream and scones for my dessert
Already got lots of chocolate and wine too that I’ll be adding too

Thanks all!

Yum that sounds fantastic! We’re having lamb tonight too - I’m just starting what I’m hoping will be a very tasty lamb curry. Enjoy your dinner!

A good cut of steak.
Good chips.
A big portabello mushroom.
Salad.
Onion rings.
A nice dressing.
Beer or a bottle of wine.
Some ice cream.

KyraGoose · 02/01/2021 17:45

Lasagne,salad, garlic bread.

doadeer · 02/01/2021 17:47

King prawns cooked in garlic and butter
Lovely baguette
Baked camembert
Tomato and basil salad
Nice mini of wine (toddler I can't drink a lot 🤣)

caringcarer · 02/01/2021 17:53

I like cooking so would get ingredients for home made lasagne and a crispy salad. I already have loads of lasagne sheets and cheddar cheese so just minced steak, I would make a large one so plenty left for next day. I'd buy a raspberry pavlova for desert and fresh raspberries and expensive vanilla ice cream too. Have lots of bottles of wine to choose from already including to throw in with lasagne.
