Frozen chicken

Hi, I bought a large fresh chicken which I’ve put in the freezer , can anyone advice on the safest way to defrost it and how long for please ?

Safest way is in the fridge, but this can take a long time. What I do is put it in fridge overnight, then take it out and let it defrost on kitchen window sill to cook for that day. I also turn it upside down half way through defrosting.
