Just how big is a 2kg ham and a 3.5kg turkey crown?

I ordered them bigger than we need, althoguh I can't quite picture how big they are because the best bit of Christmas for me is cooking once and living on leftovers for a week, but now there's only 4 of us, including one with the appetite of a sparrow.

Exactly how much meat will we have? Is it realistic to think we can use it without having to fill the freezer?

Turkey you get 3 days right? But ham is a bit longer because the whole point is to preserve the pork?

During the year we normally buy a 500g ham which does two of us generously for two meals.

Yes I think a good meat serving is around 250kg?

Superstardjs · 20/12/2020 11:52

I dont get g/kg, but dd was 2.25 kg when born, so 5lbs 9.
Helping - 250kg would be like eating the whole pig Grin

We often have a 500g ham for dinner for two adults, a 9yo and a 7yo, with enough left for a good few sandwiches.

You can chop the raw meat and freeze.

SpamIAm · 20/12/2020 13:19

Oh maybe the one we normally get is 750g then 🤔

I've just checked my Turkey Crown and it says its 3.66kg and serves 14

helpingyourselftocheese · 20/12/2020 16:25

@Superstardjs whoops Grin

We usually get a 5ish kg turkey. That feeds 7 with loads and loads left over. So I should have thought a 3.5kg crown would feed a similar amount.
