Looking for inspiration for Christmas eve, do you have any traditions?

Preferably something simple! Or prep ahead

We always do party food, just ready made stuff that gets flung in the oven, with chips and dips and maybe something festive for pudding (if there's room!)

We used to do a beige buffet, some nice buffet bits from m&s with some nice salad, cheese and crusty bread

This year we’re just getting a takeaway

Always fish/seafood - fish pie, prawn linguine, nice fish eg sea bass with potatoes and veg... love reading all these traditions!

I like the idea of buffet type food or the cringe picky bits, but ends up being a bit too much work.

We're having steak, sauteed potatoes, mushrooms, tomatoes and peas 😋 washed down with too much boozec🤪😳

We are having nice burgers from the butchers in buns with salad, cheese, sauce of choice. Onion rings and homemade garlic mayo... just as well we are not having visitors Grin

Ham, eggs and chips!

I usually do a baked camembert with celery, grapes and soft breadsticks with rosemary and bacon.

This year I'm at my parents on Wednesday night (carer/Tier 2) so am doing a decent brunch when I get home and a festive afternoon tea about 5pm (turkey and stuffing sandwiches, brie and cranberry panini fingers, sausage rolls and various Christmassy cakes).

If we need anything else in the evening had got crisps, nuts and popcorn.

Fish stew with garlic bread. Every year.

We haven't had a day off since 7th December and are both working right up until 4pm Xmas Eve so we're going to the pub (not uk) can't bloody wait! Early dinner with the kids then home, kids to bed, last minute wrapping, stocking filling and some cheese and wine. Lovely!

We allways have party bits or lot of different seafood

CeibaTree · 23/12/2020 00:16

We used to always do a side of salmon but we are having that on boxing day this year, so Christmas Eve is going to be cheese, pate, bread and olives for the adults and sausage rolls and chips for the DC.

Always fish. This year being the different year I’m going tapas style - big board of meat, cheese, fruit and pickles plus bread then garlic prawns, calamari and a steak recipe I found. Yule log for pudding.
