I'm thinking of making this as a surprise Christmas Day pud for us (4 of us, not having traditional dinner.)

I've read up the usual ingredients but wondered if anyone had any tips or unusual ideas for ice cream sundaes that I could use? I'm thinking a top notch vanilla, maybe with one scoop of choc ice cream? Raspberry coulis?

Thanks.

Black Forest - chocolate ice cream, tinned cherry pie filling (found in the tinned fruit section in larger supermarkets), whipped cream (spiked with kirsch for the adults), crumbled chocolate flake and topped with a cherry.

Banana, chocolate, caramel and peanut - snickers ice cream, chopped banana, caramel sauce, chocolate flake, roasted peanuts

Strawberries or raspberries with broken up meringue pieces! Eton mess style but with proper layers and some good quality ice cream.

You've literally just given me the light bulb moment I needed for my own Christmas Day pudding! Grin

Strawberry cheesecake ice cream, strawberries, strawberry sauce, grated white chocolate and crumbled biscuit.

Can you let everyone make their own?

Lay out ice cream, flakes, wafers, cherries, sauces and toppings and everyone helps themselves. Much more fun.

Brilliant ideas, thanks.

I have tall sundae glasses and spoons coming on delivery. I'm going to keep it a surprise from the kids!

Reporting back!

Used raspberries, mango, broken meringue, fresh raspberry coulis, strawberry cheesecake and vanilla ice creams, and a flake. Children loved it, dh declares it the best pud he's ever had! (He's not a pud man!)

A massive hit, would highly recommend. Hoping to repeat on NYE if I can get hold of raspberries.
