Roast beef

I usually do roast beef in slow cooker - bung it in for 8 hours on low and job done!
Tomorrow, I need to roast some beef but slow cooker is out of commission. I have a cast iron pot that I thought I could use in the normal oven instead as I don't have a Pyrex roaster and the roasting dish I use for turkey at Christmas would cause it to dry out.
Would it just be 20 mins to the pound and 20 minutes over in the normal oven in cast iron pot with lid?

It depends how you like it and your oven, I always think they over egg it with beef so remove the final 20/30 mins

I don't have a slow cooker, I always slow cook in a casserole pot at low fan temperature.
