Anyone know where I can buy it, please? Fresh or frozen.
I've not seen it for sale in my local Sainsbo, Waitrose or Tesco.

Not seen minced chicken but I've seen minced turkey. Is that a suitable substitute?

Sainsbury’s does sell it www.sainsburys.co.uk/gol-ui/Product/heck-minced-simply-chicken-500g but if you don’t have it in your local store then use chicken sausages.

Musclefood sell it. I have the opposite problem of having some but having no idea what to do with it Confused

I’ve picked up the heck one posted above in Sainsbury’s recently. Iceland also used to sell frozen chicken mince but it is a while since I bought it.

I used to ask my butcher to mince some for me. They only did it in bigger quantities than I needed, so I used to get a lot and then freeze the rest.

Is it thigh meat? I'd be concerned it would be a bit dry otherwise.

Georgyporky · 05/12/2020 17:52

Thanks for the suggestions.
The chicken sausages seem to have a lot of things added to them, & my nearest "butcher" is not worthy of the name .
I normally bypass the turkey section as it's my least favourite meat, but turkey mince might work.

I've been using turkey mince recently as I'm dieting and found it really nice, and versatile....BBC good food have few recipes. What are you making, OP?

Georgyporky · 05/12/2020 19:29

@meg70 Thanks for the reply.
There are a few recipes I'd like to try, substituting chicken for red meat mince for health reasons.

In particular, there's a Chinese flavoured steamed meatball recipe that I want to make , & also an Italian one.

Since my last post, I've also realised that I possess a mincer !
Totally forgotten about it, back of a cupboard & can't remember the last time it was used. So, turkey mince, or mince my own!

In the past I've also whizzed up boneless skinless chicken thighs in the food processor. Works just fine.
