We have been using our slow cooker most days got a great system going dh works nights put tea in the slow cooker so it’s ready for when I come home from work then kept warm for when he gets up
Came home tonight and the hinge on the lid has melted so looking for a replacement tempted to get something like an instant pot or ninja as I’ve always wanted a rice cooker as I am rubbish at timing rice and the other features could be useful

Looking for recommendations as they are obviously a lot dearer than a regular slow cooker

I did a lot of research as I was thinking about replacing a s.c. & a pressure cooker.
They are very heavy, c.10kg, & would have to be left on a worktop - not an option for me.
I didn't know s.c.'s had hinges? I've got a 12 year-old cheapie from Tesco, still going strong, & I recently bought a microwave rice cooker which is brilliant.

Instant pot all the way. Yes, it’s pricey but it’s more than paid for itself. I use it every day. It’s a multi function cooker so you can sauté (really helpful when browning meat to sc), slow cooker, yogurt maker, pressure cooker, rice cooker etc it’s so versatile. I have two and the later model is a sous vide too. Once you’ve got the hang of things like pot in pot cooking you can have Chilli and rice/curry and rice in less than 20 minutes.
I can’t lift heavy pans due to arthritis but can manage to cook meals well innit.
The only thing I don’t do is whole chickens in it. Even with sautéing it comes out (admittedly in less than 1/2 hr) looking really anaemic. It takes on flavour well and the meat falls away but I can’t stand to look at it.
