Induction hob thoughts

ItsA1WayStreet · 26/11/2020 19:29

We're thinking of replacing our old ceramic/halogen hob with an induction hob. Not concerned about pots and pans as they are in dire need of replacement.

Anyone made the switch and regretted it? I think we are ok for power as existing hob is on its own 32A ring.

My favourite thing is my induction hob

I wouldn’t go back to gas or ceramic

So fast and controllable and safe and easy to clean

TheBaroucheBox · 26/11/2020 19:32

Yes made the switch because of 3 year old DC. I will never go back to gas again.

mouldygrapes · 26/11/2020 19:33

Love my induction. 1yr in, zero regrets and I was very pro gas cookers before

Bumply · 26/11/2020 19:36

Love mine.
Zero regrets.
Good excuse to get new pans.

I switched from a gas range to induction hob. I think it does depend on if your cooking style...
Positives are I love how easy and quick it is to clean (used to spend ages taking all the gear off and washing and cleaning it all) and how quick it is boiling water. It's really responsive heat wise when your cooking etc..
Negative is that you can burn things easily if your not watching or are cooking to hot.
And you can't tip the pan off the heat ring (ie if your trying to baste with butter)

I wouldn't go back to anything else Smile

are they properly hot?? Smoking hot pan for a steak hot??

I have the fear as we are thinking about downsizing, and so many houses don't have gas, or new ones seem to be all electric

I like a real flame..to see the hot!

laudemio · 26/11/2020 19:42

Adore my induction hob, total convert.

Whattheworldneedsnowislove · 26/11/2020 19:46

I love mine too. Mine gets really hot. Plus, it's something I don't mind cleaning. A quick wipe and it's gleaming.

RandomMess · 26/11/2020 19:48

Love mine too would never go
back to gas and a dream to clean!!

ParadiseLaundry · 26/11/2020 19:49

The biggest benefit for me is how easy they are to clean. And they look soooo satisfying when they're all lovely and shiny!

They definitely get just as hot but Irgun it probably does take Somme getting used to it seeing any red!

RandomMess · 26/11/2020 19:50

My hob top kettle boils as quick as a rapid boil kettle!

DannyGlickWindowTapping · 26/11/2020 19:54

I'm not convinced. Switched from gas a few months ago, and just haven't got the hang of it, yet. Could be my pans - I get on better with a cast iron skillet than my "ordinary" saucepans. I love the ease of cleaning, and that nothing but the pan gets hot, but miss picking them up and tossing food. Haven't managed to make popcorn yet! 🙂. Mine definitely get smoking hot, very quickly.

Pootle40 · 26/11/2020 20:02

Would never go back. LOVE my induction.

timeforawine · 26/11/2020 20:02

Love mine!!! I have a Zanussi, I'd get one with power boost, really gets water boiling/oil smoking quickly.
Mine has numbers for which power setting, some have a slider you run your finger up and down but personally I'm not a fan as i can never get it right!
Pause function is also very handy

Unprecedentedusername · 30/11/2020 23:10

MILs cracked through centre and had to be replaced within 18 months. Light usage.

madcatladyforever · 30/11/2020 23:13

I miss my induction hob more than anything else since I moved. I hate the messy gas rings and I'm going to change it asap.

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 02/12/2020 17:05

I've just moved house and gone from gas to induction, I freaking hate it. Does it take a while to get used to? It beeps every time I wipe it and seems to turn off too much.

ZarkingBell · 02/12/2020 17:07

Love it. Wouldn't be without it.

Fifthtimelucky · 02/12/2020 17:19

I love mine too. The only time when I slightly regretted it was one December a few years ago when we had a power cut lasting almost 24 hours and I had no means of cooking.

larrythelizard · 02/12/2020 17:46

I LOVE mine.

I love the power boost function so pans boil in seconds.

Really easy to clean

Really easy to control the temperature

And I left a tea towel on it whilst cooking the other day and it didn't burn the house down!!
