Epic spicy food/snack suggestions

Doing a movie marathon with DP this weekend and we both love spicy food (think 'blow your socks off' kinda spice). It's great getting curries and Thai food etc, but I have no 'go to' spicy snacks. It's always crisps with dip and nice bread with oil/balsamic vinegar. Nice, but no spice. Can anyone suggest some super spicy (vegetarian) snacks?

Or my 'homemade' favourite- chips/wedges dipped in whatever chilli sauce is my current favourite. Maybe a hit of mayo too.

Make some mega spicy salsa and use crackers or crisps

Punjabi samosas

Chilli paratha

Another for the Snyder's jalapeño pretzel pieces - so hard not to eat the whole bag in one go.

My new favourite find is Encona Carolina reaper Mayo (hot!!) on everything.

Ooh, jal moori is lovely, a friend made some for me once.
Also i make a coriander chutney in a blender with a large bunch of fresh coriander, juice of a lemon, salt, tsp ground cumin , two or three finger chillies* and some plain yoghurt to loosen it, all whizzed up in a blender until it's a thick sauce. Great to dunk chicken tikka pieces in as well as crispy things.
DS calls this 'green shit', meaning green stuff with the emphasis on 'green' as it's not remotely shitty. It's addictive.
*or more, obvs

Also Tooty Frooty Hot Bombay mix with cashews is very nice, not but not super hot. You can always add more ground chili...

My spice range might be a bit lower than yours - my preferred curry is Dhansak (the Indian near us does a hot dhansak, when bought from other places it’s milder) but my upper limit is a madras.

The Doritos flamin’ hot tangy cheese pack a punch for us. Not necessarily on the first bite but it grows on you. I quite like the Doritos chilli roulette too. You get some hot ones but you’re never sure when they come along. If you get a few hot ones in a row, it’s a bit mouth tingly!

The Walkers max strong for beer (you don’t have to drink beer with them). Not the jalapeño and cheese but the chicken wing and peri peri chicken - they look like this walkers.co.uk/crisps-range/max/fiery-peri-peri.

There’s a place near us that does pickled habaneros. That will spice up your usual bread and olive oil. Have you considered using a chilli infused oil with your bread and oil?

If you can, also find some chocolate habanero chillis and make them into a salsa with fresh tomatoes and onions... I always find my salsa gets a bit stronger if I make it a day or two before hand and keep it in the fridge.

Bake chickpeas in garlic powder and sriracha.

CorianderLord · 05/11/2020 22:22

Could also toss popcorn with hot sauce and salt

CorianderLord · 05/11/2020 22:24

Oh! And flaming hot Cheetos 😈

ChaBishkoot · 05/11/2020 22:25

Yes look up a jhaal muri recipe. It’s quick to make and pretty spicy. (And you can adjust the level).

I was coming to recommend Cofresh Chill & Lemon or Jalapeño grills too.

chopc · 05/11/2020 23:02

Devilled sausages

You can buy something called Psycho Serum on Amazon. It looks expensive but my jar has lasted me years. Basically the stuff that makes chillies hot, all extracted and concentrated into a tiny jar of death.

You can dissolve the tip of a cocktail sticks worth in a tiny amount of boiling water, then mix into whatever hot sauce/dip/salsa you like for blow your socks off heat.

Wear gloves, and don't go mental with it. I've ended up in the foetal position in pain more than once and even got some on my fanjo after using the loo and made a thread about it

Oh now I need to go and buy myself some
Chilli rice crackers! I used to be obsessed with those!

Carrotcakeforbreakfast · 06/11/2020 10:25

Cofresh hot chilli hoops are my fave and I also recommend the jalapeno pretzels.
