QUICK!! The Beef in Beer's off the menu - what can I do with stewing steak???

We were going to have beef in beer tonight but our usual supplier of gluten-free beer has run out so I've got a load of stewing steak and am not sure what to do with it.

Have got an hour before I have to pick ds's up, so not much time to think/buy/prepare stuff.

Recipes please!!!!

brown it .. onions, carrots, garlic maybe some beans (canellini?, chickpeas?), tin chopped tomatoes, splash worcestershire sauce, bit of stock .. put in oven for about 3 hours on low

can add any root veg / mushrooms / left over red wine you have in house really

Layer with fresh sliced tomatoes, onions and garlic and sliced potatoes, ending with a layer of potatoes. Season, cover and bake for a couple of hours.

Yes, I can get red wine - thanks all! We rarely buy stewing steak and only for our favourite beef in beer recipe, so my mind went a bit blank. Will rescue it with red wine instead.
