Whats hokey pokey? Is this a jokey?

cornsilk · 13/10/2007 12:25

I'm going to try this out today.

motherinferior · 13/10/2007 12:30

Have you tried putting your right leg in, right leg out, in out in out and shaking it all about?

JulesJules · 13/10/2007 12:30

Was this Nigella's recipe? I tried it too, and mine was very gooey. Not at all like hers looked. Perhaps it's the length of time it's on the heat?

hatwoman · 13/10/2007 12:37

ok mi. despite the fact that I am constantly telling the girls not to jig around when there's hot food about I'll give it a go. I'll just have to make sure they don;t see.

fullmoonfiend · 13/10/2007 16:23

Another ecipe I have for cnder toffee says you have to dip it in water (in, out, in then out. the shake it all about.)

cinder toffee 9hokey pokey bollocky tossy whatever) is just sugar, bicarb, syrup butter I think.

MrsTweedy · 13/10/2007 16:54

This is the only recipe for cinder toffee I've ever known to work.

fullmoonfiend · 13/10/2007 17:24

Just attempted some and although it looked right andbehaved right, it tasted strongly of burtn sugar
Ho hum, backto the chopping board

hatwoman · 14/10/2007 17:07

thanks for posting that Mrs Tweedy. I might give it another go. It's very irritating of Nigella to do something without mentioning crucial things like if you don;t cook it for long enough it won't work. I don't mind her giving the impression that it's easy - it clearly is - but I do mind her giving she gives the distinct impression that it doesn;t really matter how long/to what temp you cook it for - when it does. means I waste a load of golden syrup (although it did still get consumed .

She says something about def NOT stirring when on the heat too.

hatwoman · 14/10/2007 23:01

no stirring here...only shaking - just like N.
