Is wonderful. That is all.

I am known for being an atrocious cook who failed at rice crispy cakes, yet over the past few weeks I have followed her recipes and made a chocolate cake, a Victoria sponge and two different soups which everyone liked.

Just thought I’d share that 😁

We had Delia's leek and potato soup on the weekend. Dd thinks I should make it every weekend. I learnt to cook with The Complete Cookery Course many moons ago. I also have the summer and Winter books too.

Am all inspired by this thread - I am going to make the basque chicken tomorrow night for dinner
Any other ones I should try?

Her vegetarian gravy was a game changer in our house.

I would never give a nigella recipe to a novice Baker. Even the cakes pictured in her books are sunken, in the middle.

I'm going to make the leek and potato soup tonight, but because I don't have potatoes I might use creamed corn instead.

Hope Delia won't mind.

She's fine, but I prefer the variety of the recipes in the back of good housekeeping. And the sainsburys cookery books have recipes with ingredients you're likely to have anyway, rather than having to plan for.

Chicken Basque (or is it Basque Chicken 🤔) is a huge family favourite here as well.

I always go back to the CompleteCookery Course if i need a basic reminder of something. The Summer and Winter Collections have held up really well, I think. I’m going to give my DCs a copy of the Christmas collection when they leave home as it has lots of my Christmas faves in it. Mine was a gift about 25 years ago from my SIL. She said, “in case the message is too subtle, you can entertain my parents at Christmas” Smile

@TawnyPippit chicken basque does sound wrong but that is what is called on the website.

I had Delia's complete cookery course at university and I still make her macaroni cheese with leeks and bacon very regularly.
