Shepherd's Pie with pommes boulangere instead of mash?

I'm not overly fancy normally, I just have a lot of leftovers DH thinks the potatoes will dry out unnecessarily as they've already been cooked and will probably burn, I think he needs to have faith in my cooking skills, and if he wants mash on top that badly he can make it. Apparently this is most unreasonable of me.

WDYR? Fancy leftover pommes or mash?

Foil on top if necessary. Job done.

Sounds yum with pommes Boulanger on top. I'd cover in foil for the majority of the cooking time, and then uncover for the last 15 mins or so to brown and crisp up a bit. Enjoy!

Sounds gorgeous! Is essentially hotpot right, so nothing that off piste Grin

Well exactly! Thank you all. DH has caved anyway, the prospect of having to cook his own dinner has persuaded him HmmGrin

It’s just a hotpot! Cover with foil until almost done cooking, and then turn up heat so you get soft potatoes underneath and then crisp, crunchy ones on top. Delicious.

Dot with butter as well before you put it in.
