katy1213 · 27/09/2020 21:51

I'd happily swap brownies (boring) for Christmas cake.
Optional mini bottle of champagne (not prosecco)?
Tiny squares of panforte.
Chocolate coins. Marzipan fruits. (But only if it's good marzipan.) Crystallised fruits. Satsumas dipped in chocolate. Chocolate orange peel.

Candy cane brownies? Sticky toffee cupcake? Cranberry and white chocolate rocky road?

Snickerdoodle cookies? They are a cinnamon sugar cookies, dull sounding, but very tasty!

CMOTDibbler · 27/09/2020 21:54

Mary Berry has a christmas cake traybake which is always very popular with people - you get all the lovely fruit, marzipan and icing, but its not heavy

For me it would be sausage rolls, shortbread biscuits, gingerbread or lebukuchen type biscuits, mini mince pies, some sort of fruit cake, turkey and cranberry sarnie, ham and mustard sarnie, stilton and broccoli quiche. No brownies.

nocoolnamesleft · 27/09/2020 21:55

Stollen bites.

StrawberryPi · 27/09/2020 21:57

Could the jam for scones be something Christmassy like spiced marmalade, cranberry or mulled apple? Turkey/Brie and cranberry/roast gammon/smoked salmon sandwiches. Brussel sprout and bacon quiche? Mini mince pie, Yule log, stollen, panatone?

CloudyVanilla · 27/09/2020 22:15

A Christmas Dinner sandwich and a boxing day one with ham, mustard, coleslaw etc :)

Mini Yorkshire pudding with a bit of roast beef and Stilton or Chutney in the middle

Could do a tiny prawn mayo sandwich or prawn flatbread thing as a nod to starters

Mini cheese board with tiny cubes of cranberry wensleydale, brie and cheddar on a cracker?

Mini stollen bites

Mini yule logs

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 27/09/2020 22:55

Christmas cake keeps so well she could offer it as an optional extra?
Rocky road seems to appear in lots of Christmas mags tho not sure I'd think of it as festive. Easy to make though. Scones not festive but I do like a scone with an afternoon tea!

ShaunaTheSheep · 27/09/2020 23:06

Old fashioned chocolate truffles, based on cake crumbs and rolled in chocolate sprinkles, in a paper case.

Shortbread

Lebkuchen filled with apricot jam

Marzipan fruit or walnuts sandwiched with marzipan

Peppermint creams and Turkish delight

ShaunaTheSheep · 27/09/2020 23:07

And an individual raspberry trifle

SunInTheSkyYouKnowHowIFeel · 27/09/2020 23:14

Hot chocolate stick and posh marshmallows
Mince pie type item
Mini Yule log
Shortbread
Spiced tea
Slice of christmas cake
Brie and cranberry savory
Turkey item of some description
A christmas bauble or decoration of some sort?

HardAsSnails · 27/09/2020 23:21

You have to have scones in an afternoon tea! How about savoury: cheese scones with soft cheese and festive chutney?

Little sherry trifle pots

Pigs in blanket sausage rolls

Overseasmom100 · 27/09/2020 23:59

Fabulous ideas here thank you

How about offering a choice of cakes so that those who don't like Christmas cake can have something else, like Yule log?

Overseasmom100 · 28/09/2020 22:42

Lovely suggestions thank you

Actual slice of carrot cake rather than the abomination that is a cupcake.
