Tiramisu but no Sponge fingers

I'm making tiramisu tomorrow but couldn't find any bloody Sponge fingers in the shop. I'm thinking I could just make my own Sponge. What would I be best using as a Sponge recipe? I'm kind of worried it will just fall apart if I soak a normal Sponge.

Im sure they made their own sponge fingers on bake off last year?
Ill look around for a receipe.

Failing that I’ve made it before with a fatless sponge.

My dh uses rich tea biscuits as an alternative when he can't get sponge fingers!

here is Pru Leith’s sponge finger receipe. Not sure its much help if you don’t have any arrow root! ( No idea what it is for?)

Thanks all! I'll have a crack at karmas recipe as I have all the necessary stuff.

I just use any old sponge cake if I can't get fingers. I've used some leftover coffee cake which was nice, and Madeira cake. I quite like the soggy sponge all full of tia maria and coffee, yummmm.
