Has anyone tried the Naked brand ham and bacon that Waitrose sell?

This brand says it does not use nitrite curing salt (nitrite is claimed to be bad for us).
I tried some nitrite free bacon a couple of years back (can't remember the brand) - smelt and tasted more like a pork chop than bacon.

Any views on Naked? I might buy but it is quite expensive.

It will be expensive as the process for non nitrate curing is so much longer.

Tbh I do notice a difference taste-wise but have accepted that this is probably what bacon is meant to taste like.

I've been buying the bacon for a while - taste wise it's less salty than normal bacon but really nice and most definitely bacon-y! Also good quality - none of the white liquid stuff you get when cooking cheap bacon.

Yes I buy both
Very nice

Yes, I've only bought nitrite-free for about 12-15 months now.
It doesn't last as long (presumably the nitrites are preservatives?) But the taste is good, and it means we can eat bacon more frequently.

Bacon tastes to me like normal bacon. Haven't tried the ham.

Yes, we've been buying both, prefer the bacon to the ham though! They are a bit more expensive, but don't mind as we don't have either too often and prefer knowing there's no nitrites! We also have the Naked sausages which we think are excellent!

I tried the bacon recently when family who were visiting brought it with them (very rural here with no Waitrose nearby). I thought it was great, no shrinkage, not watery and tasted like proper bacon.

Tried the sausages tonight and they were ok.
