A good alternative to cod?

Can anyone recommend a white fish I can use in place of cod? I've tried hoki and tonight we had pollock in breadcrumbs but I wasn't hugely impressed with either.
I'm trying to avoid cod because it's expensive and because of overfishing etc.
What else I can make fish and chips with?

Haddock or Halibut.

Lemon Sole wins in this house

Hake or haddock.We tried Vietnamese river fish the other day as Tesco's had it on their fresh fish counter and it was lovely-really reasonably priced.
