Chicken & rice dish cooked in oven - how long? Or will it be ok in slow cooker?

Planning to do chicken & rice dish tonight. I usually cook on the hob, but due to after school commitment was thinking of bunging it in the oven. Will it be ok in the oven for 2 hours? Basically cubed chicken, rice, onions, spicy sausage, tinned tomatoes, onions and stock.

Alternatively, could stick it in the slow cooker which would be my preference, but haven't cooked rice in there apart from rice pudding. Anyone cooked a savoury rice dish in slow cooker?

Thanks!

you will have to bring your stock to boiling point first, but otherwise it will be fine in the slow cooker

why not take this oppportunity to cook the chicken on the bone? Much better flavour

Yes, would aways bring to boiling point before putting in slow cooker, but question was more about the rice, which for some reason I've never added to slow cooker dishes before. You're right about chicken on the bone too, but my DH bought cubed chicken at the weekend "for a change"!! Usually use thighs, cos they're juicier and tastier, but stuck with what I've got.

rice went mushy in the slowcooker as I feared it might. Edible but only just! Will only add rice to slow cooker in future if I know I'm going to be in to keep an eye on it, tho mostly I use the slow cooker so I don't have to be in to keep an eye on it!
