ReeseWitherfork · 19/09/2020 12:39

Thai curry
Indian curry
Enchiladas
Lasagne
Stir fry
Mac and cheese
Toad in the hole

There must be other evening meals?!

@custardbear I do this one. It’s a bit random, ‘cos you have to boil the halloumi slices. But worth it (IMO)

Lots of halloumi recipes here, I’ve finally won DH over on halloumi so I think I can slide a few in!

Had a lovely pie tonight after this thread inspired me... thanks all! I’m going to have to make a meal plan for the entire winter with all the ideas on here (possibly not a bad idea with pending doom!)

Whenever I realise I've got into a rut I have a few tricks. eg I find myself making the same pasta dishes repeatedly when I realise that actually there are hundreds of options so I will think about that. Eg I have some leftover beef which I'm going to turn into a beef/mushroom sauce sort of strogonoff-lite.

In our standard list right now are:

Roast chicken, with chicken salad or risotto for the next day.
Steak/lamb chops/pork chops with potatoes and veggies or salad
Fajitas
Roasted vegetables in various forms - eg mixed bunch with couscous and cheese, or roasted tomatoes with pasta or roasted cauliflower and broccoli with rice
Fried cod with potatoes/chips and veg
Meatballs and spaghetti

I'm about to reintroduce stews and soups as the weather is starting to change.

ODFOx · 22/09/2020 11:39

I've been working overtime and from home so long that 2020 will go down in family lore as the year of the traybake: meat spuds veg or meat and veg or meat and spuds or veg and spuds or veg and pasta etc etc... in tray in oven for an hour-hour and 20 mins. Serve.
I ring the changes but 4/5 weekday dinners are a version of this at the moment.

ODFOx · 22/09/2020 20:49

Oh no! I didn't mean to kill your thread with my laziness OP!
Tonight I made dirty burgers topped with cheese stuffed field mushrooms and a mustard and cream sauce, with wedges.

mellicauli · 22/09/2020 21:03
