I have some friends coming over for cheese and wine next week. Any suggestions for things to serve alongside the usual? There will be cheese/pate/bread/crackers/crisps and dip.....

Baked feta covered in tomato purée, sliced black olives and basil leaves

Cheese, good bread, charcuterie, anti-pasti.

Nothing to add, but I am so so so hungry right now Grin

Apples slices, nuts and a nut cracker, some little pastry parcels with spinach and ricotta or meat inside, something involving smoked salmon, I always love sea food with things like that, but also Parma ham/ prosciutto. Some chocolate for after wards

Loads of great buffet ideas! I agree with others who have said you need to decide whether it's a cheese and wine night or a 'wine with a buffet' night.
If the former, good cheeses, artisan crackers, and some different breads (Sundried tomato, olives etc - Tesco do some lovely ones in their bakery)

Cornichons,
new potatoes roasted or boiled seasoned
Sauerkraut

If I was coming for a cheese and wine night, I wouldn’t expect anything hot or starter-y, only thing that can be eat with a knife / fingers and that go with cheese.

So cheese, chutneys, grapes, biscuits/bread/breadsticks. Maybe celery, apple and a little dried fruit. Charcuterie at a stretch. Nothing else.

QUINCE JELLY.

Aka Membrillo paste (only ever seen it at Waitrose).

Game changer.

Agree, that quince jelly is yummy & a must especially with harder cheeses.

Thanks everyone, some amazing sounding ideas. It’s supposed to be on Friday.... I’ve got a bad feeling Boris is going to put the boot in before then.....
