If I've defrosted lentil dhal can I leave it 24 hours before reheating it?

I have a cold so clearly not thinking clearly! I took some lentil dhal type curry out of the freezer for kids' tea tonight (contains red lentils, coconut milk, spinach, onions, sweet potato - no meat) but then completely forgot and cooked them fishfingers and chips!

The dhal's been in the fridge all afternoon, can I just reheat it tomorrow?

It’ll be fine. I’d do that.
Or send it here - sounds delicious. I’ll eat it!

Yes.

Silvergreen · 16/09/2020 17:26

Yes - it's fine. Refreezing defrosted food is the main issue.

PurpleDaisies · 16/09/2020 17:26

Yes, I had one in the fridge for a few days when I remembered I’d defrosted it.

Love a daal.

What’s your recipe?

MasterStef · 16/09/2020 17:47

Thanks!
It was a toddler weaning recipe so probably not at all authentic, but it's really nice - no salty stock so thought it'd be bland but it's just comforting (and obv you can add salt!)
Fry some onion and garlic for a few minutes.
Add 4oz diced potato (or sweet potato), 4oz rinsed red lentils, cumin and ground coriander (or garam masala, mild curry powder, etc), then add around 400ml water and boil then simmer for approx 30 mins.
Stir in a bit of coconut milk, tomato puree and chopped spinach for a few minutes more.

Feel I need to experiment with more interesting ones actually now!

Im almost certain I'll have done this. Definitely wouldn't have any concerns.

Georgyporky · 16/09/2020 19:28

I'd bring it to boiling point to make sure it's safe to eat.
