Best way to use up Soured Cream

MarshmallowsOnToast · 16/09/2020 11:30

Used a tiny bit of a big tub for fajitas.

I have googled & there are plenty of recipes but looking for personal recommendations.

Savoury or sweet is fine but would prefer an actual recipe idea rather than just putting on top of jacket potatoes etc. as is.

Thanks!

There are chocolate cake recipes that use sour cream.

I make carbonara by stirring sour cream & eggs through the pasta

I use creme fraiche (almost the same) in loads of things. On top of chilli, added to pasta sauce and creamy curries as well as to finish off risotto. I always have it in the fridge and it keeps well.

Is it a low fat version? If not, can use in pancakes, drop scones - gives them more flavour

Nigella has a pear and ginger muffin recipe that uses sour cream

I add it to soup, pasta sauce, and make a dip with fresh chives.

I was going to say stroganoff as well. Beef or mushroom.
Or you can put it in a goulash - www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/beef-goulash - or pork casserole - www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/paprika-pork - or have it as a side with chilli con carne. Mmmm.

I cook this Jamie recipe quite a lot - aubergine pasta. I always use sour cream instead of the double cream in the recipe, as I usually have some lerft over sour cream hanging around, and if I buy double cream just for this recipe I end up with the rest of the pot unused.

Chocolate cake is a favourite of my kids. Dont omit the coffee. I cant stand the stuff, but you cant taste it. You do notice if its missing tho.

I add mine to pasta sauce (creamy/cheesy ones), potato salad or other similar salads (mixed with mayo it goes well in most mayo type salads), pumpkin/squash/sweet potato soup, in risotto, on top of a stew, traditionally it goes with goulash and other tomato based stews.

More often I just make homemade dips with it, like ranch style dip.
