Please help me with my Pressure King

It terrifies me. I'm sitting waiting for an explosion.

Is it supposed to hiss? It's not.

No its not supposed to hiss until you open the valve if you're doing a quick pressure release! Join the official Facebook group, really helpful. I love mine.

I've got an Instant pot, but I think they work in much the same way.

Mine hisses a little until the pressure builds up enough to lift the seal to closed. There's no hissing from that point. It then takes another few seconds to come to full pressure and start the count down.

Once the cooking's finished you can either let the pressure drop naturally (15 mins or so) or release it quickly. If you quick release it, yes, it hisses and shoots out a jet of steam from the seal and pressure knob, so make sure you're not firing steam anywhere and move the knob with a wooden spoon, not your bare hand. Honestly, this is the scariest part and after a couple of goes, you'll do it confidently.
