My plums have fermented, can I still make jam?

Just as above. Has anyone made jam with fermented fruit? I've left them too long in the pan.

I am trying to think of a reason why you would think the fruit has fermented in the pan. Have you made the jam yet and it smells off? Or have you prepared the fruit, not cooked it yet and the fruit has gone off? If you use fruit that is overripe before jamming it won’t make jam that will keep which is the usual ideal.
