Can anyone help with an easy cake recipe using gold leaf?

Making a cake for a friend but decorated using gold leaf. Something I haven’t used before. Perfectly capable of baking but looking for a recipe/ideas that are simple (not hundreds of ingredients) and decorate using gold leaf so it looks great.

Sachertorte? Then the gold would contrast beautifully with the dark brown chocolate

How do you get the icing that immaculate and flat on a Sachertorte? Looks like the whole process takes a while.... recipes online say takes 3 hours?

Can anyone recommend anything else?
