September meal planning thread. For those either wanting to budget or just in need of inspiration

Inspired by another thread, there are a lot of people on here who struggle either to bring down their food costs or who just don’t have the inspiration as to what to cook, so I thought we could have a meal-planning thread where people could perhaps set out their meal plans for the week/month.

If we start with a September thread, if it fills up quickly then we could do them weekly instead.

So, there are no limitations here. For people who want to budget or who already are, come and share what meals you’re making this week to fit into your food budgets.

For those who just like to cook and who have no issue with the amount they spend, come and share your meal plans for the week even if they’re based on expensive ingredients....

All sorted and set up for the week ahead!

Sunday - roast pork dinner / baked sweet potato with garlic mushrooms in plant based cream

Monday - leftover pork in black bean sauce with rice / Lind Mccartney shredded "duck" in wraps with my next door neighbours home grown shredded onions (that smell gorgeous)

Tuesday - fish and chips / spicy cauliflower "wings"

Wednesday - pasta and meatballs / gnocchi in slow roasted tomato sauce with olives

Thursday - chicken jalfrezi / quorn korma for the littlest / chickpea and spinach jalfrezi

Friday - tortilla pizzas and sweet potato wedges with garlic and rosemary

@Gardenfish I have to admit that pork belly slices with fennel seeds are the one main thing I miss since I went veggie!

Meal planning is a constant struggle in this house, with a veggie eldest DS (who doesn't really like fish or potatoes), a fish-loving DD that really doesn't like cheese or anything creamy, and youngest DS who isn't keen on vegetables.

Writing that down makes it seem like a miracle that we can share any meals at all! Our standard rotation includes:

Tofu curry (fortunately they all like tofu)
Tofu stir fry
Spag bol with meat or lentil option
Roast salmon/cod with some kind of topping (red pesto, boursin etc)
Sausages

Am heartily bored - DH and I both v adventurous with food, given the chance - and looking for more inspiration!

This week’s meals:

Monday curry for me and DP and cottage pie left in the freezer for DS (he doesn’t like spicy.).

Tuesday potentially chicken and mushroom pasta if DS is here but he’s planning to have lunch with his dad so if that happens I will have something simple such as an omelette or soup.

Wednesday sea bass with a white wine sauce, spinnich and sauté potatoes.

Thursday: lasagne

Friday either the chicken pasta if we don’t have it on tuesday or sausage mash and onion gravy

Saturday: Lamb steaks with garlic and rosemary

Sunday: roast chicken, potatoes, carrots, peas, stuffing and Yorkshire pudding.

Have just done my weekly shop for all that and it came to £63 from Tesco.
