What to do with a pint of double cream?

Bought it to make korma and only used a bit. I don't want to waste it but haven't a clue what to cook. Any ideas? Sweet or savory.

Add to white/cheese sauce for pasta/cauliflower cheese etc.
Mix with a bit of pesto and add to pasta.
Can be frozen (tho I think it's better if whipped a bit first)
Chuck it over lasagne and top with grated cheese rather than making a white sauce (a friend of mine always does this and it's yum). Couple of recipes here

Make Eton Mess

Chop strawberries
Crumble some meringue nests from Asda, Sainsbury's or M&S
Whip cream and fold all the ingredients together

icecream

buy a big choc cake and pour it over....yum!

raspberries and cream

funnypeculiar · 01/10/2007 22:02

funnypeculiar · 01/10/2007 22:02

actually, a pint would be enough if you make a small one...

NotAnOtter · 01/10/2007 22:03

deffo eton mess

Cappuccino · 01/10/2007 22:06

drink it

buy an apple pie

lulu25 · 01/10/2007 22:07

rice pudding

strawberries are over, eton mess would be a big disappointment

ooh ooh unless you do a banana one like heston blumenthal

fihi · 01/10/2007 22:07

we lurve eton mess (who doesn't) and you could even freeze some for your next chicken korma??

lulu25 · 01/10/2007 22:07

CUSTARD

lulu25 · 01/10/2007 22:07

i think i may be hungry

PavlovtheCat · 01/10/2007 22:08

pour it over your partner and lick it off. much more fun than etons mess!

PavlovtheCat · 01/10/2007 22:09

sorry, could not help it
scuttles away....

Eton Mess, yum. Which reminds me of Lemon Meringue Ice cream: Whisk cream with equal amount of Greek yoghurt. Mix in 1/2 jar of lemon curd; juice of 1/2 lemon; crushed meringues. Freeze. Take out of freezer and put in fridge 1/2 hour before needed.

Which then reminded me of Barbados Cream: Again, whisk equal amounts of cream and Greek yoghurt together. Layer up in a glass bowl with any kind of brown sugar (demerera/muscovado etc). Finish with a sugar layer. Leave in fridge overnight to go fudgy.

Depends whether you want the excuse to indulge in a creamy pud. If not, would freeze as suggested for next korma.

ice cream
proper custard
go with your name and chop a banana into it (my mum's idea of a diet - half pint of cream with half a banana for lunch, other half of both for dinner).

MorocconOil · 01/10/2007 22:12

Just think about how you'll get those greasy stains off your sheets, before you get too carried away Pavlov

PavlovtheCat · 01/10/2007 22:15

sheets? who said anything about the bedroom? best place for food, in the kitchen, of course [grins].

Failing the rudeness of my suggestion, I would go with rice pudding.

kookaburra · 01/10/2007 22:20

Oooooooooooohhhhhhh - Brandy Alexanders....(as long as you have nutmeg to sprinkle on top...)

fihi · 01/10/2007 22:23

u dirty birds!!! but i did wonder when i saw OP whether u meant dinners or entertainment too

how could i forget to mention - current fave variation on eton mess is using frozen raspberries (as strawbs pretty well over). I say frozen cos
a) we pick n freeze them, and
b) they make the cream freeze where it touches the fruit.

oohh i'm hungry.
