Out of date Mozarella - 3 months

I've just opened a pack of mozarella that was hiding at the back of the fridge. However best before date is the 7th May, I've drained it and tasted it and it seems fine. Is it ok to use for the rest of the teenage family & DH?

is it best before or use by?
Are you cooking it?

Username7521 · 02/08/2020 18:49

What are you doing with it? Have you cut it open to see what the wholes look like? If I were to do anything with it I would say pizza.
I’m pretty Blaise but this would be a solid no from me.

I was using it in nachos, so heated until it melts. However I think I'm erring on the side of no.

It's a use by date. Looks fine in the middle.

if its a Use By then I wouldn't use it. If it was Best Before then quality may suffer but its not dangerous to use

If it was off it would taste sour. Am amazed it doesn’t though.

How did your mozzarella survive that long, mine was only a week out of date and the packet exploded! Stinky cheese water everywhere

littlefireseverywhere · 02/08/2020 18:58

Yes, not sure I can do it. I'll be fine as have a cast iron stomach, don't want to inflict it on the others, just in case. Thanks all.

Arghhh 3 months? Noooo definitely not!

OldFloweryCardigan · 02/08/2020 19:16

It's a firm no from me.
My experience with mozzarella balls (the ones that come in water) is that it goes sour after 3 days, let alone 3 months! Grim. Amazed the bag hasn't puffed up.
